Jerry Johnston , The Artist's Passion

I am but a hunter of phantoms and such, with a net made of gossamer wings. And a brush with a flourish, and a spatter of paint the color of wonderful things. from THE POET by Jerry Johnston

Jerry Johnston is an artist, poet, musician and song writer. But this website is about art and art provides the "fire in his belly". Art is what costs him sleep at night, and when he does sleep, art fills his dreams. Art is his passion.
From the moment Jerry picked up a watercolor brush to paint orchid blossoms from his wife Melinda's collection, it was a certainty that more painting and the study of painting would follow. Jerry began private study with artist and teacher Michael Ann Harper. He then studied with renowned watercolorist Charles Reid. Afterwards, he began studying oil painting with Texas Christian University professor and artist, Jim Woodson. He is now painting primarily with acrylic paints on watercolor paper and canvas.
Jerry's work has been shown at the Yellow House Gallery in Fort Worth, Texas, Hilton Head Art League in Hilton Head South Carolina and at the Bass Performance Hall, Fort Worth, Texas.
In addition to Gallery shows, Jerry has worked closely since 1998 with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Fort Worth. Each year he has painted works for their annual fundraiser.
Jerry is currently working in various mediums in a variety of styles, from figure and portraiture to impressionist florals and landscapes and abstracts. He is a member of the Texas Coalition of Artist based in the Fort Worth Community Art Center in Fort Worth, Texas and is a member of The Arkansas Valley Art Center in Buena Vista, Colorado.  Jerry's  work is available currently in Buena Vista, Colorado at The Courtyard Gallery and through private showings at his studio in Tin Top, Texas or you may email queries from this web site.
Regardless of the medium or style, passion is always present in the paintings of Jerry Johnston.
